Year 7 Football

Abbs Cross 4 – Sanders Draper 1

A fast start to the game at Lane in the year 7’s first game back since the Christmas break. Abbs Cross kicked off and early pressure resulted in Sanders School taking the lead in the opening minutes. Abbs Cross equalised soon after through Darlyn Dike. Further goals from Darlyn, a header from Roman Boyce and a free kick by Charlie Lehane gave Abbs Cross a 4-1 lead at half time. An even second half resulted in no further goals and the game finished 4-1.

Year 8 Football

Abbs Cross Lose 5-0 to Bower Park

It finished 1-0 at half time, the boys had battled hard. Unfortunately a few opposition substitutes came on and changed the game. At 3-0 down we had an opportunity to get back into the game with a penalty, but the goalkeeper was able to save it. Abbs Cross conceded 2 goals in the final minutes, as we attempted to gamble going forward.

Year 9/10 Football

Abbs Cross Win 6-1 Vs Hall Mead

A very strong performance from the first kick. Abbs were unable to convert any of the good chances they created within the first 20 minutes. A free kick was awarded on the half way line, which was crossed in and headed into goal by Tommy. We continued to utilise our strengths from set plays converting another opportunity from a corner. Abbs applied even more pressure, running down every loose ball throughout the game. This tenacity shown by the squad warranted a 6-1 win

Year 10 Netball

Year 10 had their first game of the new year against Marshalls Park at home. Fantastic shooting from both Lucy Hunt and Bobbi Lehane. Lexi Rossington Trotman was strong at both ends of the court, great support play at the attacking end and defensively very competitive.  The final result was an impressive 16-2 win to Abbs Cross.

The next game against Bower Park was fiercely contested. A high scoring game resulted in a 21-17 win for Abbs Cross.

Year 9 Netball

Year 9 played their first game against Marshall Park also winning by a strong margin. 11-2. The game allowed us to look at positions and play some of the game in the opposite position, defensively or attacking, to gain an appreciation of what is needed to play that position in the game. A valuable experience.

Year 7 Netball.

Netball Rally - Thursday 10th February 2022

A covid hit squad headed over to Hornchurch High to take part in the Year 7 Borough Netball Rally. It was a freezing cold evening where Year 7 would take on Sacred Heart, Redden Court, Hall Mead and Hornchurch High. The Year 7 girls played brilliantly throughout and supported each other with great teamwork throughout. The team won 1 lost 2 and drew 1 which unfortunately did not take us to the top of the pool group and in to the play off games.

Well done to all girls who have more matches coming up in the next few weeks.

  • Abbs Cross  3 V Marshalls Park 1
  • Abbs Cross 1  V Sanders 2
  • Abbs Cross 3 V  Bower Park 2

Girls Football  7 - 8 - 9

KS3 girls football team took on other schools in a friendly round robin tournament in November. The aim of the tournament was to start to promote girls football in Havering and get the girls to experience playing other teams. No scores were recorded but students found the game a valuable experience as the sport grows within the Girls PE Dept. A special mention to Lacey Swain in Year 9 who is currently taking her coaching and refereeing badges and supported and refereed the games with the girls.
