Year 8 Rounders Team Battle to Thrilling Draw Against Frances Bardsley

On Tuesday 9th June, the Year 8 Rounders team travelled by minibus to take on Frances Bardsley in an exciting fixture that showcased excellent teamwork, determination and skill.

Batting first, the team made a confident start to the match. Rounders were scored by Scarlet, Adelina, Amariah, Amy and Nidhi, while Millie and Kree each added valuable half-rounders. Despite facing some consecutive no-balls and obstructions, the team finished their first innings with a strong total of 6½ rounders.

Taking to the field, the girls worked hard to keep the opposition under pressure. Amariah bowled consistently well, while Leah’s accurate back stopping helped restrict scoring opportunities. Aijana was outstanding at short stop, demonstrating excellent communication, decision-making and leadership throughout the innings. Frances Bardsley responded with 7½ rounders, giving them a narrow one-rounder advantage.

The Year 8 team showed great resilience in the second innings. Adelina led the way with an impressive 2½ rounders, while Amariah, Amy and Cree all contributed half-rounders. Amy also added a further 2½ rounders, displaying excellent speed and awareness as she ran confidently around the posts.

In the field, Kree stepped in at backstop and helped secure a number of important outs. Nidhi and Adelina produced some excellent fielding displays, while the partnership between Amariah and Aijana was particularly effective, with their quick communication and teamwork nearly resulting in the entire batting side being dismissed.

After a highly competitive contest, the final score stood at 7½ rounders each, resulting in a well-deserved draw. The match was played in great spirit and reflected the hard work and commitment of the entire squad. The team should be extremely proud of their performance and can take great confidence from such a positive display as the season continues.
