Year 7 Rounders Team Make an Impressive Start to the Season
BackOn Thursday 28th May 2026, the Year 7 rounders team played their first fixtures of the season and made an excellent start with some outstanding performances both on the field and at the batting post.
Hall Mead
Our opening match against Hall Mead was a fiercely contested encounter. Hall Mead scored 6½ rounders in their first innings, and despite a few missed opportunities in the field, including obstruction penalties that allowed 1½ rounders to be scored, the Abbs Cross team remained determined and focused.
Abbs Cross responded superbly with the bat. Excellent batting from Ekatherina, Katie and Tiana produced several full rounders, while Arizona, Zainab, Katie and Tiana added valuable half-rounders. The team's resilience, teamwork and positive attitude resulted in a well-deserved 9–6½ victory.
Gaynes
Our second fixture against Gaynes proved to be a much closer contest. Gaynes scored 2 rounders in their innings, but some excellent fielding, particularly from Ella, helped keep the score under control.
Abbs Cross then took to the batting post and scored 3 rounders, with Arizona achieving a full rounder and many other team members contributing important half-rounders. The team's consistent batting and strong fielding performance secured another excellent result.
