On Thursday 13th November,

The Year Seven netball team travelled to Sanders Draper School for their first away match of the season. Spirits were high as the girls prepared for an exciting four-quarter contest.

Abbs Cross made a strong start, with confident shooting from Matilda and Phoebe helping to build early momentum. Squad rotation ensured that every player enjoyed valuable court time, and the team displayed an excellent attitude and competitiveness throughout.

The second and third quarters showcased some outstanding teamwork. The centre-court players moved the ball fluidly up the court, while Katie delivered a standout performance in defence, making several impressive rebounds and interceptions.

In the final quarter, Abbs Cross dominated possession, with Sanders only entering our defensive third twice. However, in the final seconds of the match, the Sanders Goal Shooter managed to convert a last-ditch shot on the whistle, handing Abbs Cross a narrow 7–6 defeat.

Although the result was disappointing considering the team’s strong performance and superior possession, the match was fiercely competitive and highly enjoyable for players and supporters.

Congratulations to Matilda, who was named Player of the Match.
