Year 8 Sports day 2025
BackThe Year 8 Sports Day took place on Wednesday 2nd July 2025, on a slightly damp day following a recent heatwave. Despite the weather, the atmosphere was full of excitement and anticipation. Students had signed up for events in advance, eager to represent their form groups and showcase their skills.
The morning began with the track events, kicking off with the 100m and 200m sprint races. After some exhilarating sprint finishes, we moved on to the field events, which included the high jump and shot put. The athletics competition concluded with the 800m and the always exciting relay races. Throughout the morning, students demonstrated fantastic determination, fierce competition, and most importantly, outstanding etiquette and fair play. Students should be incredibly proud of their performances, displaying both effort and talent across all events.
In the afternoon, the whole year group gathered on the school field for the rounders competition. Each form competed in a round-robin tournament, playing several tightly contested matches. Fortunately, the weather held out, allowing all games to run as scheduled. There were many highlights, including excellent batting and fielding skills, with several students hitting full rounders with confidence and power.
We were fortunate to be supported by a group of Year 11 students who assisted with scoring, timekeeping, and measuring, alongside our brilliant Year 9 Sports Leadership Academy students, who played a vital role in helping run the day’s events.
After a day of enthusiastic and competitive performances, Mr Rahman announced the final results:
- 6th place – 8C
- 5th place – 8S
- 4th place – 8A
- 3rd place -8B
- 2nd place – 8R
- Overall Winners of the 2025 Year 8 Sports Day were 8M.
Congratulations to all students for their participation, teamwork, and exemplary conduct throughout the day.
