Transition 2021

Welcome to Abbs Cross!  We hope that you are excited about joining us in September and that you are looking forward to the many opportunities that you will be able to enjoy during your time at Abbs Cross.  We are, of course, very much looking forward to meeting you and your parents at the events listed below.

What will happen next?

There are a number of events and opportunities that are an important part of you making a successful transition from your primary school to Abbs Cross.

1)      Interview

You will receive a letter from us inviting you to attend an interview so that we can begin to learn a little bit about you: the subjects that you enjoy, the activities you enjoy and the way that you like to learn.

The interviews will take place after school between 3.30 – 5.00pm and will run from Thursday 24th June.

2)      Induction Day (subject to government restrictions lifting)

On Wednesday 23rd June you will be invited to spend a day with us so that you can experience the way that lessons are delivered and meet some of the students you will be in a tutor group with.  You will meet your form tutor and other key members of staff who will work with you to ensure that you are able to get off to a flying start when you come to us in September.

3)      Meet the Tutor Evening (subject to government restrictions lifting)

On Thursday 24th June you and your parents will be invited into school to spend time with your form tutor in order to learn more about the way that the school works.  You will find out about the expectations you can have of us and about the expectations we will have of you.

4)      September Photographs

On Thursday 9th September professional photographers will come to school to take a photograph of you for our records and so that your parents can have the traditional Year 7 portrait of you in your uniform – make sure that you book your haircut so that you look your very best on that day.

5)      Stubbers

On Tuesday 28th September you will have the opportunity to accompany a Year 7 visit to Stubbers Adventure Centre to take part in a series of team-building activities.  More details about how to sign up for this trip will be provided in due course.
