After being lucky enough to have attended a live performance of ‘Giselle’, performed by the wonderful English National Ballet in September, Abbs Cross Academy’s year 10 and 11 GCSE Dance students, continued their learning, participating in a workshop, led by professional dancers along with live musicians.
In the Abbs Cross Academy Dance Studio, Dance students were taught technical exercises, linking directly to the action and dynamic content from the live performance of Giselle, allowing students to travel across and around in the space, galloping, sliding, leaping and crawling.
All students participated in choreographing and developing motifs, sharing and creating choreographic ideas, in a trio; along with students from another Trust School, Cecil Jones.
The workshop was exciting, high energy and full of incredible choreographic ideas, approaches and exercises that our GCSE students can use and develop within their GCSE course.
Thank you to the practitioners from the English National Ballet, who delivered such an amazing and insightful practical workshop.
