Battle Of The Bands 2018

On Wednesday 21st March 2018, the eleventh performance of Battle of the Bands took to the Abbs Cross Academy stage!

The two hosts, Jessica Porter and Lauren Sutton kept the audience entertained and informed, in-between the 11 contestants.  The contestants ranged from year 7 to 11, who performed live, in front of over 120 audience members.  Instruments within performances included guitar, ukulele, drums, bass, keyboard, piano and vocals.

This year’s judges were Miss Buntrock (Teacher of Drama), Mr Ricketts (Teacher of Language) and Mr Higgins (Director of Maths).  We were also lucky enough to experience ‘Truth in a Cliché’ perform during the interval, who were last year’s Battle Of The Bands Winners!

There were so many excellent live performances from groups, trios and duets, all singing and playing ballads, rock, pop and musical theatre songs, competing for the title of ‘Audience’s Winner’ and ‘Judges’ Winner’.

This year’s Battle of the Bands Winners were:

  • Audience Winner: The Echoes

o   Harry Butler, Ethan Holt and Connor O’Sullivan

  • Audience Runner Up: Barbeque Sauce

o   Pemmy Canova, Reece Donn, Frankie Dickinson Finnley Hagan and Joseph Hurley

  • Judges Runner Up: NGA

o   Elliot Archer, Alexander Gray, Joseph Hurley

  • Judges Winner: The Forth Wall

o   Ethan Holt, Aaron La Violette, Evan Wells and James Wilson

All of the contestants showed confidence, flair, uniqueness and talent.  Well done and thank you to all of Battle of the Bands acts:

Barbeque Sauce, Deaf Fret, The Slayers, Two of Spades, The Forth Wall, NGA, The Revival, Exploded, Illuminate, The Monarchs and Echoes.

A huge thank you also needs to go to Elliot and Chloe Archer, for assisting back stage with all of the instruments, amps and technical malfunctions.
